The upgrades themselves are a mixture of Smithing Stones and Runes, and they are used to improve the stats of the base weapon and enhancing its scale with other stats. These upgrades can be purchased from enemies in the open world or from merchants. They can also be dropped by combat.

There are two NPCs who can upgrade your weapons: Blacksmith Hewg in the Roundtable Hold hub area and the Smithing Master Iji in the Road to the Manor hub area. Both of these NPCs will take your Smithing Stones and Runes in exchange for a higher-level version of the weapon as well as an enhancement.

It's crucial to prioritize upgrading your best-in-slot items first, then the ones you won't replace soon. Players can unlock more powerful utility items in addition to the ones they have in their usual inventory by purchasing them at the Atomic Shop or from seasonal Scoreboard rewards. Certain of these items can be upgraded to allow greater effectiveness.

Most utility items enhance a specific combat attribute or give the player some kind of advantage when it comes to navigation.
